Launching #GREEN_SKILLS: Shaping the Future of Sustainability and Ecological Transition

Green Skills

Last week we celebrated the kick-off meeting of our new EU-funded project #GREEN_SKILLS – Professions for Sustainability and Ecological Transition!

This innovative initiative, part of the Erasmus+ programme, is set to revolutionize the way we educate and train young people for a sustainable future.

Educating for a Sustainable Future

At the heart of #GREEN_SKILLS is a commitment to educating students about the crucial objectives outlined in the 2030 Agenda, with a strong emphasis on global sustainability. By integrating ‘green’ education into vocational training, we aim to prepare students for environmentally conscious careers that contribute positively to our planet.

Fostering Awareness and Critical Thinking

One of the project’s primary goals is to foster a deep sense of awareness, critical thinking, and dedication to sustainability among the younger generations. We believe that by nurturing these values, we can cultivate a generation of leaders who are equipped to tackle the environmental challenges of tomorrow.

Promoting Inclusion and Opportunity

A significant aspect of #GREEN_SKILLS is our focus on inclusion. We are dedicated to reaching out to disadvantaged or vulnerable groups, providing them with valuable training opportunities in fields related to the ecological transition. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone has a chance to participate in and benefit from the green economy.

Building Skills for Sustainable Professions

Our project will offer structured courses in key areas such as sustainability and circular economy analysis, as well as environmental management. These courses are designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to thrive in sustainability-focused professions. By doing so, we aim to bridge the gap between traditional education and the evolving demands of the workforce.

Sharing Success Across Europe

Moreover, #GREEN_SKILLS aspires to share and replicate successful outcomes across Europe. We are committed to introducing students to emerging concepts like the circular economy and bioeconomy, broadening their understanding of potential career paths in these dynamic fields.

Our Dedicated Consortium

Our consortium is a diverse and dedicated group of partners from across Europe, including:

  • Liceo “G. Bianchi Dottula” in Italy (Project Coordinator)
  • INNETICA in Spain
  • CONNECTUS in Greece
  • E-Expert GmbH in Austria
  • Agrupamento de Escolas Póvoa de Santa Iria in Portugal
  • Ekonomska sola Novo mesto in Slovenia
  • “Vetrunge” Gymnasium Klaipeda in Lithuania

CONNECTUS will take the lead on a crucial part of the project, focusing on training processes for environmental management.

The impact of #GREEN_SKILLS is poised to be significant. By empowering young people with green skills, we are building a skilled workforce ready to drive the sustainability agenda forward. Our EU project also promotes social inclusion and inspires collective action on a global scale, contributing to a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future.
