Entrepreneurship & SMEs

Entrepreneurship is a powerful driver of economic growth and job creation: it creates new companies and jobs, opens up new markets, and nurtures new skills and capabilities. Small businesses account for 99% of the businesses in the European Union. They provide for the majority of jobs in the private sector and contribute to over half of the EU’s GDP. Small businesses are essential to Europe’s competitiveness and prosperity, industrial ecosystems, economic and technological sovereignty, and resilience to external shocks. It is therefore crucial to foster entrepreneurship and competitiveness in SMEs in the transition to a green and sustainable economy.
