The other day we had our Pre-Departure Training for our YPA2 crew of EMPOWER+ Project!

More than 30 young participants from across our Sub-Saharan Africa partner countries logged on today for the EMPOWER+ project training, buzzing with energy ahead of their big trip to Athens.

The day kicked off with icebreakers and a “map yourself” round, with names, countries, and fun facts shared out loud on the call.  Then came a Greek trivia showdown , a presentation about Greek culture , a mini Greek language lesson complete with basic phrases in Greek , and at the end a quiz to test what stuck!

After a well-earned break, groups headed into breakout rooms named after Greek destinations, like Corfu, Rethymno, Florina and more , digging into what makes each region unique before presenting back to the whole group.

We wrapped up with a reflection round and a practical briefing: travel dates, documents, and what to pack for Greece in January.
